QUOTES FROM THE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL 2008 TOURNAMENT
Carl Griffiths, former Shrewsbury Town and Manchester City striker.
Griffiths commented:
“Everybody is working their socks off to make sure every little detail is right. It’s a pleasure for me to be here.
“From what I’ve seen already, I can say without doubt that there are some really good players in this tournament.”
From a delighted USA Team Manager:
"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Shrewsbury tournament and would like to thank you, Iain and all the hard-working group of devoted people who made it happen (Paul, Em, Howard to name but a few...).
It was a pleasure to see you all again and to be able to take part in a week-long , well-run tournament on British soil. The football was good, with some challenging matches involving strong academy teams and international sides, and some excellent small-sided games with the likes of Aston Villa, WBA and Wolverhampton. The venue is just wonderful with lots of weather-proof space ! and comfortable changing rooms and the fields held up exceptionally well to the heavy rain.
We were so disappointed when you had to leave Aberystwyth which we had enjoyed so much. We could not see how we would ever be able to find another quality tournament at 'home'. Well, you have certainly pulled it off with Shrewsbury ! Thank you for making it happen.
Once again, we took home some excellent and well chosen gifts which will come very handy during the new season, thank you."
Our staff have previously organised tournaments where the following players participated.
Michael Owen, Andriy Shevchenko, Dieter Hamann, Robbie Fowler, Danny Coyne, Owen Hargreaves, Shay Given, Craig Burley and Peter Ndlovu
It is important for teams to know that the event now being operated at Aberystwyth has nothing whatsoever to do with Soccer Destinations or the former "Ian Rush Tournament" although it is often presented as having such a link. |
